Save Money on Flowers-Use the same ones as other brides for the ceremony!

Sometimes the tip to use the same flowers for the reception as for the ceremony just doesn't work-the reception hall might have a different decor, be too far away, etc etc. Another idea to save money-talk with the other brides using the same church and see if you can use the same flowers.

Flowers could be delivered on Friday for the same couple to use for a Friday ceremony and Saturday or could be used on Saturday for two or three couples.

Work out the details:
-Offer to split the flowers evenly-$2000 for huge arrangements at a church might be excessive but split between 2 couples manages to be just $1000.
-Try to pick out flowers that will match the church decor-not the bridal party.
-The other couple might want to pick out their own flowers-if you're flexible tell the church to keep the same flowers up and not clean up.

How to find out who else is getting married? Ask the coordinator at the church for the names and numbers of the other couples.

Save Money on Wedding Cakes-Rent a Cake?!

If you've been pricing wedding cakes, then you know how crazy the pricing can be. $2 for a serving multiplied by your 200 guests equals $400 and that would be for a cheap cake that doesn't even include the elaborateness you expect from your 4-tiered creation.

One bakeries creative solution-rent a wedding cake. Rent the Cake of Your Dreams (http://www.rentthecakeofyourdreams.com/) allows brides to have another option-brides can rent an elegant display cake for their cake table and have their caterer serve a delicious (and less expensive) sheet cake. The best part-guests have no idea that the cake you and the groom are happily cutting and smashing in each other's faces is not the same cake they are being served.

Other options to save money on the wedding cake:
-Like stated above, serve guests sheet cake. Sheet cakes are much cheaper than traditional wedding cake.
-Look at alternative places to get your wedding cake. Most warehouse stores and supermarkets can make wedding and sheet cakes at a fraction of the cost caterers charge. Also call up culinary schools and see if students can make them.

Favors: Make your own engraved glasses

The cost for monogrammed glasses for favors can start to get quite steep. Here is a nice solution....engrave your own! Michaels and Joanne crafts both sell a tool called EK Success Inscriblio Engraving Tool. For about $15.99 you can own this tool which lets you eave an impression on metal, tiles, and glass. Michaels has patterns for you to follow in the below link. Now all you have to do is buy the glasses, photo frames, candle holders, etc. and you've saved all of the expense of engravers!

Creative Save the Dates

An unusual but creative save the date idea....

Use postcards! Might sound obvious for destination weddings, but take advantage of your wedding in a historic building by using postcards as your save the date cards. Best part is that these cards are usually complimentary (or ask your planner at the reception site.) However, we see how using the postcards could be suitable for everyone. i.e. If your wedding is in Philly (or the Philly area) use postcards of the Liberty Bell or the Delaware Waterfront. Out-of-town guests will think it's cute and, well, a lot of people don't bother reading them anyways. If you two meet during college, use a postcard of the college campus.
